Samsung will not really have had time to breathe. Indeed, Xiaomi has chosen this Thursday, August 11, 2022, to lift the veil on its MIX Fold 2. This new folding smartphone looks very promising.
Screens awaited at the turn!
Barely 24 hours after the formalization of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, Xiaomi is showing up with yet another folding mobile phone that will soon land in China. If we will have to wait before knowing the details about an (uncertain) launch on European soil, this new smartphone is already revealed from every angle.
The first thing that interests us on a folding mobile is obviously its or rather its screens. The MIX Fold 2 has two AMOLED panels. The one positioned on the front of the device has a diagonal of 6.56 inches in 21: 9 with Full HD + resolution (2,520 x 1,080 pixels) and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Inside, an 8.02-inch screen with a definition of 2,160 x 1,914 pixels and a refresh rate that once again reaches 120 Hz has been announced.
A thin and well-equipped smartphone for photos
Additionally, the MIX Fold 2 will be among the thinnest folding phones on the market. Folded, its thickness will only reach 11.2 mm against 5.4 mm when unfolded. The size should therefore be relatively limited. The mobile’s hinge uses micro water drop hinge technology. This allows this model to close almost completely.
The good news does not stop there since Xiaomi seems to have reviewed its copy on the shutter reserved for photos. At this level, a 50 MP IMX766 sensor will be accompanied by a 13 MP ultra wide-angle and an 8 MP X2 telephoto lens. On the front, a 20 MP camera is present. The maximum achievable resolution has not been given.
As for performance, it will be provided by the famous Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. A 4,500 mAh battery with 67 W fast charging is also on the program. The Android 12 operating system will be supported by the MIUI 13 overlay.
Europe will have to be patient
Finally, we learned that the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 will come in two distinct colors. The folding smartphone will be sold in black and gold. The Chinese manufacturer plans to launch three different variants as early as August 16, 2022, in China.
