However, our tests showed that despite significant head movements, the headphones were still very well housed and therefore, the fear of losing them is hardly present here.

A lag-free experience for seamless immersion

The particularity of the Razer Hammerhead Pro HyperSpeed comes from its multiple possible connections. Compatible with every Bluetooth device, but also with the Switch, the Steam Deck, the PS5 and PCs through its 2.4 GHz USB-C dongle, they become among the most versatile on the market.

Connected via Bluetooth, Gaming mode allows the HyperSpeed to have a latency of no more than 60 milliseconds, which is rather impressive for wireless use. It is with the 2.4 GHz dongle that the connection offers an experience with a lag of less than 40 milliseconds. Suffice to say that it is imperceptible.

Now that the potential audio latency issue is out of the way, let’s talk about the spatialization of the Razer Hammerhead Pro HyperSpeed. Helped by THX technology , our test on Counter Strike 2 proved particularly conclusive. Noise of footsteps or gunfire, the spatialization of the Hammerhead Pro is truly excellent, and leaves no doubt as to the origin of the sounds.

Regarding use dedicated to gaming, it is perfectly possible to substitute a headset to replace it with the Razer Hammerhead Pro HyperSpeed , which will be more pleasant to wear in most cases. The fact remains that in the case of a multiplayer game with communication, the listening quality of the Hammerhead microphones is acceptable without being good. This is probably where headset microphones will have the advantage.

The big weak point of headphones, autonomy

If there is one big, rather disabling weak point on these Razer Hammerhead Pro HyperSpeeds, it is their autonomy, which we would have liked to have been greater. Charging the case takes around 1.5 hours, and promises around 3 hours of use with active noise reduction and RGB at 30%, and those on two charges of the headphones.

This will be enough for most players, but if a session ends up dragging on, there may be a problem. Therefore, we can only advise deactivating RGB as well as active noise reduction to gain more or less an additional hour of use.

It is for this reason that induction charging is all the more practical with Razer’s headphones, where leaving the charging case on a pad will be of great service so as not to end up with flat headphones a few minutes before a session.

In everyday life, outside of gaming

While we would favor deactivating active noise reduction when playing in the peace of your home, it is entirely possible to use the Razer Hammerhead Pro HyperSpeed in the outside world.

So, we will activate active noise reduction here, which will help reduce the noise of cars, or even people on the RER C who put their phone on loudspeaker to have their little morning conversation. Overall, the active noise reduction of the Razer Hammerhead Pro HyperSpeed is not really up to their price, for example struggling to mask even half of the noise produced by a mechanical keyboard while writing. of a text.

As for the sound part, their use with the default equalizer settings (modifiable by the Razer Audio application) turns out to be quite good. This is obviously not at the level of headphones like the Sony WF-1000XM5 where the audio part is close to perfection.

But contrary to what one might believe, Razer has not exaggerated on the bass. All the same, the Razer Hammerhead Pro HyperSpeed sometimes lacks emphasis on treble and midrange, which results in a relatively recessed presence of vocals and cymbals when listening to Rock or Metal for example.

After all, it must be said that their use was intended for gaming, and they will still make good everyday extra headphones, even if that is obviously not their specialty.

We will still note the great practicality of using multipoint which allows for example to connect to a PC using the 2.4 GHz dongle to a PC, while remaining connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth.

Our opinion on the Razer Hammerhead Pro HyperSpeed

While most headphones are designed purely for an audio experience without taking into account the latency induced by the wireless experience, Razer takes it all on the opposite side with the Razer Hammerhead Pro HyperSpeed.

Created primarily for a gaming experience worthy of the name , they offer great versatility, notably through their ability to connect to all Bluetooth compatible devices, but also via USB-C through the 2.4 GHz dongle provided.

These offer a latency of less than 40 milliseconds, which is to say imperceptible, but also excellent spatialization with the THX experience. Their comfort will allow them to be worn for several hours at a time, which is essential for the gaming experience.

If we regret their rather low autonomy as well as the rather ineffective active noise reduction, the fact remains that the HyperSpeed can also be used in everyday transport, in a more traditional use, we will say.
