Mark Zuckerberg spoke out on Instagram following the buzz around the Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset. He attacks this new rival head-on and asserts that “the Quest is the better product, period.”

Apple Vision Pro, a mixed reality headset or “spatial computer”, was released two weeks ago in the United States. The device has been very popular on social networks and in the media much more important than what the Meta Quest 3 experienced, which nevertheless offers largely the same features, and more, at a much lower price.

Simple effect of the brand? Mark Zuckerbergposted a video on Instagram to defend his helmet, a video shot with the Meta Quest 3. His opinion can be summed up in one quote: “I don’t just think the Quest is the best value, I think the Quest is the best product, period.” An opinion which will surprise no one, but which is well argued.

A headset seven times more expensive than Quest 3

Although he admits that the definition of the Apple Vision Pro display is better, for him the integration of these screens required too many compromises. He pointed out that the Quest 3 has a passthrough (or real camera function) equivalent to that of the Vision Pro, and also allows for multiple Windows which seem to float in the real world. He criticized the comfort of the Vision Pro, which is heavier, suffers from motion blur and a smaller field of view. Additionally, the Quest 3 works entirely without cables, unlike the Vision Pro which must be connected to an external battery. Both headsets include hand tracking, but he found the feature to be more accurate on the Quest 3 and not suitable for complex tasks like typing.

Mark Zuckerberg appreciated the follow-up of eyes in Apple’s headset, recalling that the Quest Pro was also equipped with it, and revealing that the firm plans to equip a future headset with it. Finally, he points out that the Quest 3 is equipped with a greater number of contents and apps specially designed for mixed reality, and especially since the Quest 3 costs seven times less than the Apple Vision Pro… Those who would still be interested in the Vision Pro in France will nevertheless have to be patient. Apple has yet to announce a launch date outside the United States.
